We believe it’s the responsibility of all businesses to give back to their communities, and we find that especially true in Hawaiʻi. When we first started down the path to what is now Mālama Solar, we knew two things: we wanted to be in solar because of all the benefits it provides to the environment and economy, and we wanted to give back to our community. More specifically, we wanted to give back to our islands. With these goals in mind, it made sense to choose the name “mālama” for our business.

Mālama means to take care of, or to care for, and we can’t think of a better principle to live by, and to name our company after, than that. Our kuleana, or responsibility, as a business and as a people, is to care for our environment and our community. That’s why, at Mālama Solar, we participate in various community organizations that promote sustainability and educating our future generations on ways to care for these beautiful islands we call home.
